We had so many bad quality submissions that for 2026 we want to make it so that the submission needs to have an obligatory field for a Steam page (or equivalent) and it needs to be scheduled to be released in the next eight months from when the show reel starts.

Any other ideas that could improve the quality of submissions and discourage people with very premature video, feel free to write in this ticket, otherwise, I think this will help.

Would it make sense to add some limits like:

  • Duration should be between 30 and 90 sec
  • If we are doing categories it should be appropriate for the category a video of a character walking on a town feels more like a tech demo. So maybe it would be nice to define what classifies as a game, what is a tool, etc.

Also, even though we don't use sound when we create the showreel with the top choices sound should be mandatory to make it feel like a trailer for an upcoming game.
